Sorry. I just experienced some technical difficulties in which my text decided to do some weird thing (hint: rhymes with "blinvisble") and I couldn't continue my last post. So I just posted it unfinished, and it will continue here:
our painting intern, was tailgating out of her boyfriend's truck. Tailgating (the only part of football games I can get behind) while dressed as zombies. Yes, please! It was magical. Now, being me, I had my camera with me the ENTIRE time, and yet I took no pictures. Sorry. There are a few on facebook, though, for your viewing pleasure. ANNDDDDDDDD - we broke the world record for largest zombie walk! And by "broke" I mean we took the record from like 4,000 to over 10,000. Basically, Fort Myers is awesome.
In the spirit of my past blog posts, and what may become a tradition here where the frazzled and dazzled play, I only took the time to update because I got off work early. The trouble with our first show, Rumors, is that it is modern, upscale, and has a small cast. Sooo, we rented tuxes, bought some dresses, and made a few jackets. The rest of our time has been spent teaching me fun things like setting wigs. Judy is being great - teaching me all the terminology and forcing me to make mistakes so I can learn properly. I'll take a few pictures (I SWEAR) and post them when I've finished styling this one wig I'm really proud of.
Other than that, all I have to report is that I'm getting a taste of what it means to live in Florida during storm seasons. Yesterday I thought my car was going to up and float off the road. This morning I wore shorts to work, and now this afternoon I'm slouching around my apartment in yoga pants, a sweatshirt and a scarf. I'm fully expecting it to be bizarrely warm tomorrow, just to keep me on my toes.
The last note I'll leave on is that my favorite holiday of the year is coming up in a few weeks, and I have yet to decide on a costume. I'm brainstorming, but I'm so used to group costumes now (thanks a lot, college) that I can't seem to come up with anything I love for just me. I think I left my creativity on the mountain... Maybe a few Halloween-themed food network competitions will help! In any case, they never hurt.

October = Awesome
Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE October. More specifically, I love Halloween. Best holiday ever. You get to dress up, and instead of weird looks you get candy. Not to mention Halloween specials on Syfy and Disney (I love me some Halloweentown, y'all). But this October's awesomeness is going to rival that of all the previous October's of my life combined. This is due to several things, but mostly it's because of Zombicon. That's right, zombicon. Fun fact: Fort Meyers was the location of the opening scene from Romero's "Day of the Dead", and the people who live around here are proud. Every year for the past 5 years they've gathered, reenacted the scene, then stumbled around dressed to the nines (if you consider looking dead and rotting "to the nines", which I do), and had a massively good time. And, y'all, this thing is HUGE! They estimated 10,000 people last year. This has become a part of Fort Meyers' official tourism-y stuff, takes up most of the downtown area, and might be the most awesome thing EVVEERRRR. Needless to say, I went.
Y'all, this event was MADE for me, I swear! I got to put on zombie makeup, drink in public, and dance to good music. And the even better part is that Mandalin, our

Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezie!
Morning everyone! I was planning to update several times over the past few days, but due to the hectic nature of those days, I couldn't quite get to it. This morning, though, I found out that I don't have to be at work until 11, for a meet and greet with the equity cast members, so HELLO EXTRA HOUR! I was going to spend it catching up on some TV, but then there was some crushing guilt and ta-da, blog post!
I've had a bizarre couple of days, but there was a whole week of work before that, wasn't there? Well, that first week was...easy. My immediate bosses don't like starting work before 10 am (I'm pretty ok with that), and we usually ended our day around 2. This won't be the norm starting today, because we're FINALLY getting our actors for the first show! Costumers without actors to costume have nothing to do but organize, design, and go to production meetings. On that note, though, somehow the assistant costume designer, Judy, and the costume designer, Roberta, Jedi mind-tricked me into designing one of the children's shows. I told them I really didn't want to, they said to think about doing it, and suddenly I was agreeing to design. It might be voodoo, actually, now that I think about it. Or an imperius curse. In any case, I've gotten all my research done, and I have preliminary renderings to show Claire, the director. Me = a bundle of nerves. If Claire likes them I'll think about posting the renderings, but I probably won't. I can't draw worth a damn. You'll get pictures from photo call, more than likely. And really, that's most of my week. I would get off work, putter around my apartment, get a "pool time" text, go have pool time with the production shop, eat dinner, watch some TV, and then go to bed. The best part about all of that? We keep doing it even after our days get long, and WAY after it gets cold in my dear Oxford/Sewanee! In fact, I've been informed that when it gets cold the text changes to "hot tub time" instead. So yeah, my job has been amazing so far, and I expect it'll stay much the same. Yay!
P.S. This is all the dazzling parts of my job. It'll get to the frazzled part soon enough, I promise.
P.P.S. I figured out comments! So, yeah...you can do that now.
